WHO WE ARE
KRREA is a not for profit alliance working to shape the region’s economic growth and address common regional economic development priorities. It is a vehicle for the many communities, businesses, Aboriginal, economic development and regional organizations, education and training institutions, governments and other key economic stakeholders to come together and work collaboratively to build a vibrant, strong, diversified regional economy.
A Paradigm Shift
Regional collaboration in economic development is essential today to build a strong diversified economy and compete effectively in the global economy. Leadership must come from business and communities, and include all those involved in the economy. It must be guided and supported by all working in partnership. KRREA is spearheading this paradigm shift in the region.
By thinking regionally and working collaboratively, the regional economic alliance plays the roles of catalyst, facilitator, supporter and partner to:
- Create a shared regional economic vision
- Champion and provide a voice for the region’s economy
- Build critical mass and share resources to improve regional competitiveness and access to investment
- Effectively address shared economic issues and opportunities
- Strengthen individual partner, community and Aboriginal economic efforts
- Offset limited regional capacities
- Effectively address common infrastructure requirements
- Implement common strategies, initiatives
WHAT WE DO
Our purpose is to improve the economic capacity and competitive advantage in the eastern Kootenay Rockies region in British Columbia.
We are focused on four core activity areas:
- Regional strategic economic planning and research and analysis
- Addressing regional infrastructure issues and investments
- Business retention and expansion
- Investment and business attraction
Our 3 year strategic goals are to:
- To address regional priority economic challenges and opportunities, strengthening economic capacity and advantage for the region, businesses and communities.
- To build a strong diversified partner base of business, communities, First Nations, economic development organizations, education and training institutions and all levels of government, who support and derive value from the organization.
- To be a respected leader, champion and promoter of the economy in the region, mobilizing partnerships and resources and providing support to business and community.
We initiate, implement and partner on a variety of economic focused major initiatives, projects, activities and programs, and form and participate in issue specific region-wide committees, councils, and task groups.
